LEHI, Utah — Utah-based startup Ammøn unveiled a prosthetic arm Monday that restores the wearer’s sense of touch through a direct connection to the nervous system.
The company said it initially developed the device after identifying a historically underserved group of patients injured during livestock-related disputes.
“Our research found a surprising concentration of limb loss among men involved in altercations near communal watering sites,” the company said. “In some cases, entire groups were affected.”
Ammøn says its first production run is already fully reserved, with one customer requesting that the arms be bundled together before delivery.
