Maverik responds to Buc-ee’s 2028 Spanish Fork plans

SPANISH FORK, Utah — Maverik responded Friday to Buc-ee’s newly announced 2028 Spanish Fork location, saying the company remains focused on “serving Utah travelers the Maverik way.”

“While we support competition, we also support growth that reflects community values,” Maverik said in a statement. “We’ve enlisted Fairview, Texas officials to help reduce the proposed size of what many are calling the great and abominable convenience store.”

The company also announced a series of unrelated updates scheduled to roll out before 2028, including expanded brisket options, larger fresh-food counters, additional fuel pumps, upgraded restrooms, and a new emphasis on destination-style convenience stores.

Maverik emphasized that the improvements had been in development for some time.

“We’re always looking for ways to improve the customer experience,” a spokesperson said, standing beside a newly installed brisket smoker.

The company declined to comment on reports that several executives had recently taken “research trips” to Texas.
