Creators of Broadway’s “The Book of Mormon” Announce Sequel Musical, “The Pearl of Great Price”

NEW YORK — Broadway is going cosmic. Following years of success with The Book of Mormon, the show’s creators have unveiled a sequel, The Pearl of Great Price, promising “song, dance, and at least one floating City of Enoch.”

Act I will dramatize the Book of Abraham, culminating in a power ballad called “Abraham, Put Down That Knife.”

Act II fast-forwards to Kolob, where the entire ensemble delivers the show’s finale, “If I Could Hike to Kolob.” The scene is staged as a cosmic trek, with cast members in astronaut suits hiking a foggy incline beneath star-shaped spotlights. One insider described the look as “half pioneer trek, half NASA training video, but with jazz hands.”

Other rumored songs include “Pearls Before Swine (Reprise),” “Facsimile Fandango,” and a gospel-choir remix of “Figure 7 Represents This Earth in Its Four Quarters.” Producers insist the production will honor the original source material, though they admit they’re “still figuring out how to make papyri sing in key.”
