Stouffer’s Launches “Mormon Classics” TV Dinner Line for Utah Market

SALT LAKE CITY — Stouffer’s has announced a new line of frozen meals designed specifically for Utah consumers, beginning with three regional favorites: Funeral Potatoes, Hawaiian Haystacks and Frog Eye Salad.

Company officials said the “Mormon Classics” line was developed after market research found Utah households were significantly more likely to purchase meals containing shredded cheese, cream-based soup and at least one ingredient that technically qualifies as a salad only because someone once put it in a serving bowl.

Priced at just $1 each, the meals are being marketed as an affordable option for Utah families with anywhere from 6 to 20 kids who need to get dinner on the table without refinancing the minivan.

The new meals will reportedly begin appearing at select Smith’s stores across Utah later this month, with a 256-ounce, 16-pound family size already in development for households that consider anything smaller a Gentile serving.

Stouffer’s says additional varieties are already in development, including Chicken Pillows and an unnamed green Jell-O product currently awaiting clarification on whether it is a side dish or dessert.
