President Russell M. Nelson Invites All to Read The Book of Mormon; LDS Dads Everywhere, Having Read the Title Page, Ask, “Now What?”

SALT LAKE CITY, UT — In a global devotional this week, President Russell M. Nelson invited members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to read The Book of Mormon — prompting a near-universal reaction from LDS dads, who promptly opened the book, read the title out loud, and proudly announced to their families:

“Well… I read The Book of Mormon. Guess I’m done!” (cue finger guns and a satisfied sigh).

“I took the prophet’s invitation very seriously,” said Brother Paul Jorgensen of Layton, polishing off a glass of chocolate milk. “Opened it up, read the title page word-for-word: The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. Nailed it. Spirit felt. Mission accomplished.”

Jorgensen’s wife, visibly unimpressed, clarified that President Nelson likely meant reading the contents of the book — not just the cover. “Yeah, but he said read the Book of Mormon,” Jorgensen countered. “Not inside it. Words matter, Susan.”

Other LDS dads have rallied behind the same interpretation, forming new “Title Page Study Groups,” where members meet to re-read the title once a week and discuss how bold the font is.

One dad even testified on Fast Sunday, “Brothers and sisters, I know The Book of Mormon is true. That’s what it says—right on the front. And I read it. I invite all of you to do the same.”

Church leaders have since clarified that the invitation was to read beyond the cover and ideally keep going until at least 2 Nephi, or “as far as humanly possible before the Isaiah chapters scare you off.”
