FamilySearch Launches Online Dating, Declaring Dating Is a Family Search

Salt Lake City, UT — FamilySearch, the world’s largest free genealogy platform, has announced a groundbreaking new feature: online dating. The goal is to help users not only find their family, but start one too, ideally with someone outside their direct bloodline.

The new “Eternal Companion” mode lets users swipe through potential matches, each profile complete with a short bio, favorite temple, and a five-generation pedigree chart. When two people mutually Choose the Right on each other, a bold green banner appears: “No shared ancestors within six generations! It’s a match!”

Profiles include spiritually essential details like “Young Women’s Medallion: Earned,” “Returned with Honor: Yes,” and the all-important “Tithing: Gross or Net?” filter.

Church developers say the feature is a natural fit. They’ve helped users connect with their great-great-grandparents. Now they are helping them find someone to make great-great-grandchildren with, preferably outside their immediate tree.
